Vielä suurempi kipinä syntyi droonikontti “Lotan” rakentamisen ja ilmailutoimikunnan perustamisen myötä. Ilmailutoimikunta aloitti toimintansa 2023 ja droonikontti Lotan rakennustyöt saatiin käyntiin 2025 keväällä. Tätä kautta erilainen kehitystoiminta syntyi luontevasti ja toiminta kerää jatkuvasti yhteen uusia “Pelle pelottomia”. Kun lisäksi havaittiin alueen soveltuvan erinomaisesti kokeilu- ja kehitystoimintaan tilojensa, maaston moninaisuuden ja sallivan ilmailuvyöhykkeen osalta, oli konsepti valmis tuotteistettavaksi. Ajatus SATA-hankkeesta sai lopullisen muotonsa.

When it was also discovered that the area was excellently suited for experimentation and development activities in terms of its facilities, terrain diversity and permissive aviation zone, the concept was ready to be commercialized. The idea of ​​the SATA project took its final form.

PERUSTAMISVAIHE – NYKYHETKI, tammikuussa 2026

SATA-hanke sai toden teolla tuulta purjeisiinsa kesällä 2025 toteutetun HAMK kansainvälisten opiskelijoiden tukemisen myötä. Tällöin opiskelijoita ohjaamassa olivat HAMK:n puolelta Sofia Welling ja SäRes-Centeriltä Mika Kajander-Avellan. Sofialle oli ajankohtaista etsiä opinnäytetyötä korkeakouluopintoihin ja SäRes-Centerillä tarve tutkia SATA-konseptia. Tähdet osuivat siis kohdalleen ja lähdimme Sofian kanssa yhteistoimintaan.

The SATA project really got a boost in the summer of 2025 with the support of HAMK international students. The students were supervised by Sofia Welling from HAMK and Mika Kajander-Avellan from SäRes-Center. For Sofia, it was a timely matter to find a thesis for her university studies, and for SäRes-Center, there was a need to research the SATA concept. So the stars aligned and we started working together with Sofia.

Elokuun 2025 jälkeen olemme Sofian kanssa lentäneet eteenpäin ja vauhti on ollut melkoista. Verkostoituminen on konseptin suunnittelun ohessa ollut keskeistä. Olemme järjestäneet yhdessä huomattavia verkostoitumistapaamisia ja esittelytilaisuuksia joissa on ollut edustettuna lähes kaikki alueen oppilaitokset (TAU, TAMK, HAMK, VAAO, TREDU, TAKK) sekä useat ekosysteemit (Business Tampere, Finnish Operations Center, Define ja Digital Defence Ecosystem), sekä useita erillisiä yrityksiä.

Since August 2025, Sofia and I have been flying forward and the pace has been quite fast. Networking has been key in the concept design. Together, we have organized significant networking meetings and presentation events where almost all educational institutions in the area (TAU, TAMK, HAMK, VAAO, TREDU, TAKK) and several ecosystems (Business Tampere, Finnish Operations Center, Define and Digital Defence Ecosystem), as well as several separate companies, have been represented.

Samalla on koko ajan muokattu SATA-konseptia tuotteeksi, kuunnelleen toiveita ja näkemyksiä moninaiselta osanottajajoukolta. Mainittakoot yhtenä keskeisenä tukijana Sotilasprofessori Mika Hyytiäinen, jonka näkemykset ovat olleen kullan arvoisia, kiitos Mikalle.

At the same time, the SATA concept has been continuously modified into a product, having listened to the wishes and views of a diverse group of participants. I would like to mention one of the key supporters, Professor of Military Studies Mika Hyytiäinen, whose views have been worth their weight in gold, thanks to Mika.

SATA ESITTELYINEISTO

SATA-konsepti ja sen henkilöstö sekä logo hyväksyttiin Sääksmäen Reserviläisten hallituksen kokouksessa 5.1.2026. Aiemmin oli jo päätetty selvittää hanketukia Sofia Wellingin palkkaamiseksi.

The SATA concept, its personnel and logo were approved at the Sääksmäki Reservists Board meeting on January 5, 2026. It had already been decided to investigate project support for hiring Sofia Welling.

TULEVAISUUS

SATA tulee osallistumaan Drone Innovation Hackathoniin 21-23.1.2026. Olemme pääsemässä myös useiden ekosysteemien vierailuiden kohteeksi ja uutiskirjeisiin mukaan.

SATA will participate in the Drone Innovation Hackathon on January 21-23, 2026. We are also getting visits from several ecosystems and newsletters.
